  • Looking for the Daffan family ...

    a couple of searches please;

    1) Trying to find Charles Frank Daffan b1867, occ: gun barrel borer, wife Charlotte b1868 and dau Charlotte Florence aka Lottie in 1901. All born in Birmingham.
I've found them in Birmingham in 1891 (sp Daffon), living with Charles's mother Caroline.
    Charlotte d1907 / Charles d1915.

    2) The birth registration of Charlotte Florence, she's not listed with them in 1891.

    Thanks

    When did they marry?

Charles remarried in 1908, but doesn't look as though he married Charlotte until 1899

    Is Rose Maude theirs too?

Hover on the Search Records bar at the top of the page and at the bottom of the drop down click on A-Z of record sets

In the search box start typing 1901 and the first set of records to appear will be 1901 England Wales and Scotland census. Click on that

Scroll down to near the bottom and the option is there to enter the piece, folio and page number

... now wondering why FmP don't give the option of that page when you select search records Census etc and then have to mess about selecting from record sets etc ... they certainly don't make things simple do they

No LL I don't believe she is. I came across her accidentally when I was trying to find Charlotte in 1911. She had a different widowed mother. The only two that are obviously theirs are -

                                Rose Maude Daffan - June 1891 Birmingham 6d 168
                                Charlotte Florence Daffan - June 1892 Aston 6d 301

Charlotte Florence appears to marry Ernest F Pickering in Aston June 1919 ref 6d 1054
and Rose M appears to marry Herbert McCuan in Aston June 1914 ref 6d 1152

Charlotte Florence Pickering death - born 23rd May 1892 - died Aug 1988 aged 96 in Worthing West Sussex vol 18 page 1951

Charlotte appears to have had 3 sons. I can't give their names without looking for their deaths first of course as they could still be alive, but they were born in 1920 Kings Norton - 1924 Kings Norton - and 1930 Birmingham South

                                  No obvious children for Rose.

Given that she was only about a year older than Rose maude, I see no reason why they would not have had her christened if she was theirs....and I cant see that they did
