Hi everyone
I am no doubt missing something obvious here and would appreciate any help.
I have a baptism of George Bowring Critchell in 1873 - son of Levi and Jane Critchell
Name: George Bowring Critchell
Baptism Date: 16 Mar 1873
Baptism Place: Chickerell, Dorset, England
Father's Name: Lovi Critchell
Mother's name: Jane Critchell
Then George seems to disappear and I can't find a matching death record. On the next census - 1881 - Levi and Jane are living with their various children - http://search.ancestry.com.au/cgi-bi...iv=1&ml_rpos=2
including a son named Charles who would seem to be the right age to be George. I'm wondering if Charles is really George and for some reason, was known as Charles in the family. George would have been named George Bowring after Levi's brother-in-law who was married to Levi's sister Ann and the Bowrings lived next door - so maybe George was known as Charles to avoid confusion with his uncle - or does that all sound unnecessarily complicated?
Any ideas greatly appreciated - thank you!
