I know that the use and merits or not of using DNA is a contentious issue on here, but the article is well worth a read, whatever your stance.

Thankyou Caroline, that was very interesting and neatly demonstrates what I keep on saying - these tests are not "reliable" as in this case they identified the match as being either a grandfather or a sibling! It also demonstrates that people really MUST think all the possible outcomes through before they start either DNA testing or looking for adopted relatives etc. It isn't all light-hearted happy-ever-after. In this particular case no one is better off and everyone concerned is a lot worse off. Better if they had not opened Pandora's box at all.

Yep, don't go into genetic genealogy without first thinking about the skeletons that might come out of the closet. It's true for paper genealogy, but most especially for genetic genealogy.
