  • A deceased person on Census?

I don't suppose anyone can figure out why there's a deceased baby on this census can they?

It's for Richard Andrew Thomas, I know it says Alice though.

    Thanks

I am the girl from that town & I'm darn proud of it.

I think you will find that the head of the household just filled out the form incorrectly. The question is asked at the top how many children alive/deceased, and they have presumed that the names needed to be listed. Probably crossed out by the enumerator when he collected the form!

An internet search reveals several other examples of where people were confused by the form as to whether they should list their dead children in the 1911 census.

Thanks Elaine and Phil, it's the first time I've really seen it like that, I know that my own great grandfather got confused on his but not like that.
