Can anyone see Arthur Abel, born East Yorkshire England c1884, linked with farming, agriculture, general labouring?
Can't find him on UK 1911 census. Family story is that his lady friend was pregnant and Arthur didn't fancy marriage, so he cleared off to Canada. I think, aged "28", he may have sailed on the Corsican from Liverpool on 23 March 1911, destination Halifax. So in theory he should show up in 1911 census.
We know nothing about his life in Canada until he enlisted in the CEF at Moose Jaw Saskatchewan in January 1915. I believe he was at the front in the trenches at the Somme working with pigeons (signals unit presumably) when he was killed in 1916.
Thanks for reading.
