From a Liverpool Baptism record a son is given Bridget as his third Christian name............presumably after mother or grandmother but seems most unusual. Son bridget.jpg
I can think of several reasons:
After a female relative.
Bridget as a family traditional name.
Because the registrar wrote it down wrong - they do make some stupid mistakes even now when they are away from their PCs.
And just in memory of a friend. I know a young lady with the second name of Johnny - in memory of a friend who died two days before she was born. I know this for fact, as the person who died was my only son.
Pick any one from four - and there may be more reasons.

Many Catholic or Irish families gave Mary as their sons second name. In 1954 many boys had Marian as their 2nd name as 1954 was the Marian Year. I have to say ive never heard of too many Bridgets in boys name but if the birth was 1st Feb which is St Bridgets Day that may be a reason
