Durham Wills 1650 - 1857 on FamilySearch - are they new or have I just not seen them before!

    https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2358715

They are linked to this website so you can search for the probate number

I used the familyrecords site http://familyrecords.dur.ac.uk/nei/data/advanced.php to search for names and then when I found a name with a reference number I scrolled through the list on the familysearch link to get the images of the will - not an easy process!

The family search list only comes up as half a page so it takes a while to get from the 1600s down to 1800s which is where I was looking.

            Hi Modem

Click on the bottom link I gave above, which takes you to the Durham University Search Page.

Enter the name of the deceased and you will get a list of people with that name who left a will in the Durham area. Next to each name is a reference Number beginning DPRI/1. (eg DPRI/1/1725/F2/1-2, for Thomas Farrow, one I looked up before.) The 1725 refers to the year of the will, the F2 is the ref of the will. You can ignore the last set of numbers.

Then go to the Familysearch page and browse the entries. Scroll down until you find the matching reference (DPRI/1/1725/F2 in this case) and that is the transcription of that will.

Thank you for the easier search, I'm not sure about Phillips but there's certainly a fair few promising Peacocks
