    Hi can anyone help me find information on Joseph James Cook a Whitesmith with a son Frederick born abt 1842 in Susse, Thanks x

    Mary Cook wife Mar 38 born Essex Wick??
    Jos (Joseph) son 11 scholar born Sussex Brighton
    Fredk. son 8 scholar born Sussex Brighton
    Judith passed away in October 2018

                Can't find a Brighton bap for Frederick but this looks like his elder brother Joseph:
                St Peter, Brighton bap 12 Apr 1840 son of James Cook, whitesmith, of Carlton Grove and Georgiana Cook.

                    Glad I used FMP to search for them, though to be fair to the Ancestry transcriber the writing on the original is not easy to read.

                      true, though I am having great trouble trying to find them after!.. goto to go out now, but will be back later.

                        I think Joseph turns up in 1861 aged 20, a private in the army RG9/1097 folio 11 page 133 but can't find the rest of the family yet.
                        Have also tried looking for a death for Georgiana and remarriage to Mary between 1840 and 1851 but no luck, problem being there were an awful lot of James Cooks about.

                            Yes, James Cook, the whitesmith had a wife called Georgiana when older son Joseph was baptised in 1840, but by 1851 his wife is shown as Mary on the census.
