I've got a possible theory that might be worth holding on to for the future. Once you have certificates.
I couldn't find a birth for Maud Caplin that fit but I did find a marriage in Dec 1901 of a William Caplin to a Maud James in Winchester 2c 289. There is also a death for a William Caplin in Dec 1903 aged 39 in Fareham 2b 356. I'm not very 'up' on London registrations but I thought there were a couple of possible births for a Maud James.
This is possibly Maud James working as a kitchen maid in 1901 -

and a possible William Caplin, a soldier in barracks in Winchester aged 37 -
Just a thought of course.Chrissie passed away in January 2020.

Where did you see something saying half siblings Shaz? If you mean from anything I said, I was only saying that she MAY have been married before. Even if she did, there is no sign or indication of children from the 2 year marriage and the three children on the 1911 census all appear to have been born in the name of Hartwell after she married Broderick.Chrissie passed away in January 2020.

They have no surname for Maud yet show a marriage in 1906.
I would be very careful of using anything from that tree without thorough checking first. You will need to make contact and find out where they got their information from.

Looking at the 1881 http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/75...l=ReturnRecord for Edward and Ellen - Broderick's parents it shows he was a Domestic Coachman.
Here's his marriage to Ellen Butler http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/16...l=ReturnRecord which shows his father was a farmer and her father a policeman
