Help with Military Records

A friend has asked me to help with her Grandfathers Military Records
She wants to send for his records but any information will be gratefully received as I am not familiar with Military records and I know nothing about researching these records.

She has his Short Service Record, His Medal Card, her brother owns the medals but refuses to climb in his attic to get them to show her.



Short Service Record
He was William Pritchard of 18 Bull Lane, West Bromwich Staffs age 30 yrs 5 months trade Waggoner
1st Batt South Stafffs Reg 56860
Campaign BEF 1914 3 Medals awarded Roll on which included F/2/4/81
Disembarkation date 4.10.14
She says he was a POW
He was previously in the 2nd Batt Cold Stream Guards (discharged)


Any help with this would be appreciated as I don't have subs to pay per view sites.

I have found the ancestry service records for him isthat what you want?

There are about 20 pages on him on ancestry - i dont mind downloading them all but i dont know how to attach them to a private message so would need your email address i think to attach them all properly.

Just be aware that your friend appears to have the incorrect medal card for her g/father - as you will see from his record he served briefly as 55860 - a Gunner with the Royal Garrison Artillery - attesting 7th December 1914 - then transferred in May 1915 to the Army Service Corps as a driver with the new no T4/111264 - which is on his correct medal card
