  • James Peacock (the son)

    Hi guys,

James Peacock & Sarah Corby had a son in 1877, Stockton.

    I have him in the 1881, 1891, 1901 & 1911 Census with his parents.
I haven't found a marriage or a death for him yet.

The other day I was looking at the Gravestone Photos website and came across a James Peacock, a wife & son.

Image here in case they are incorrect people: http://www.gravestonephotos.com/publ...&scrwidth=1300

Using the information on the headstone itself I have been able to find a marriage between a James Peacock in 1905, Stockton but the wife's name is slightly different. It's Mary Jane not Ann.

There is a birth of a Charles in 1909, Stockton. The one in 1907 is James Nephew through his brother Thomas.

I'm not spotting a death for this Charles though.

    There's a marriage in Sept 1935 for a Mary A Peacock to a Mitchenson.

    There's Stockton deaths for a James in 1931 & 1937.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone could see a connection to it being my James and if so why if he with his parents in 1911 Census?

I am the girl from that town & I'm darn proud of it.

Ahh so I did get the wrong times then, I really must learn not to take the ages as accurate when it comes to these things, I always do that.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Chrissie :o

There's an entry on the probate calendar for James. Gives his address as 2 Inkerman Street, Stockton on Tees. Its an administration so there probably wasn't a will

In 1911 there's a Dack family living there with a grandson called William Peacock aged 11. Don't know if you can tie that in with your family

Dack is his sister in law's family Jackie. His brother Thomas married Eliza Dack, I have William, Albert, Doris Irene, Charles Frederick & Robert as their children.

Granddad's here and it turns out that the street is the next one over from where Nanna lived, I've even got it on an old map

It's amazing how closely connected all these Streets are:
Mario Street- Evan Thomas died (his daughter married a Phillips)
Nolan area- A Lennon Descendant lives there now.
              Balaclava Street- The Registry Office
Landley Street- Nanna lived here according to Granddad
Fenny Street (joined to Allison on the right) Peacock's lived there as well, actually now that I think of it, Ann Brown Peacock's Mum was a Fenny by birth. The more I'm writing this I'm talking to Mum and she's sure that Nanna mentioned living on Fenny at some point.
The T below Allison is the start of Tennant Street, seen in this Map which has:
Major Street- Birth of George & Annie Phillips.
Croft Street- Death of George, birth of his children and death of some.
Beaumont Street- Birth & Death of some of George's children, address on WW1 records for Jacob, Thomas & Joseph Thomas.
Buxton- Census record for George in 1911.
The streets under Major are where George's brothers/sisters/cousins/Uncles lived.

Only a few of those still survive today.

A historical fact- the actor William Hay came from Durham Street, not to be confused with the Durham Road that we still have.

So Charles is the son of a Lloyd & Peacock but guess what?

He's also the Nephew of a Lloyd & Peacock! At least I think he is anyway.

James baby brother Robert married Edith Annie Lloyd in 1917, Stockton.

There's twin girls born in the same year and each having a part of their mother's name.

However I've found this on Stockton Roots Burials:

PEACOCK EDITH ANNIE Durham Road 27/07/1918 31
PEACOCK ANNIE Durham Road 26/09/1918 Less than 1 year old
Lennon. Phillips. Thomas. Peacock. Tubridy. Burton.
