I don't think the BBC comment that the National Archives are transcribing 1.5 million war diary pages is correct is saying that it describes the lives of British soldiers in the lines.
A war diary is a brief summary of a units daily activity and rarely describes or even mentions a soldier. Officers, yes but in the main they cover unit activities as related to the war.Whoever said Seek and Ye shall find was not a genealogist.
