  • Newbie Working on Genealogy Project

    Hello All,

This is my first post ever to this forum, so please go easy on me. I have a genealogy related project that I'm working on for college, and I desperately need the experience, advice and help of this community. I am working on a web application for a computer science class that I hope to be of benefit to many of you, and the preliminary step is to conduct market research - this is not spam, so please do not flag this post as such. If any of you are willing to help please respond to this post.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Could you provide a bit more detail, so that we'd know the kind of thing you're after, pls?

      Sure.

I'm in a class that is something like a think tank for web start ups. My idea is to use social media as a tool for genealogical research, but I have to prove that there is a demand for it. I'm looking for respondents to a survey that I have created, and I'd like get an idea of what technology (web pages and applications) can do to make genealogical research easier for you. I didn't want post the link to the survey in the first message for fear that it would be flagged as spam.

Agree with that. Even though I put Yes to the Do you use Ancestry question, it seemed to assume I'd said No and wouldn't let me out until I'd put something in the Other column.
