MY OH is looking into the history of some bells in Cumbria. It has thrown up a mystery that I thought would be easy but I am completely stumped! HELP!
The chap we are looking for is Aaron PEEVER (sometimes Aron). The only thing we know is that he was casting church bells (12 still exist) in Cumberland, Northumberland, Dumfries and the Isle of Man during the very approximate period 1720 to 1740. His name is cast into the bells as their maker.
He must have come from Mars (or maybe Ireland, Scotland or the Isle of Man!!) because I have not found any baptism, marriage, or death related to him or anyone who might be his family. Only once does his name crop up in the Carlisle area because someone stood surety for him and he (Aaron) didn't turn up, leaving the sponsor in the debtors prison because he couldn't afford the £50 surety.
OH thinks I can find anything family history related but I've failed on this one. HELP PLEASE!!
Anne
