  • Croix de Guerre

Hi all. If anyone can help be much appreciated. The father of my mate Barry gained the Croix de Guerre in the Great War possibly twice. However we cannot trace this and the records available do not reference the medal. Could anyone suggest where we might try? It isn't only that the medals were presented but he would like to get any details of where, when and how.

Appreciate records in war, especially with French medals presented to Brits in the field of battle, can easily go astray. But wondered if there were avenues we could pursue. Even paying a researcher.

The details are: Harold Herbert Side, Born May 04 1897 in Greenwich, England, Died 1974 in Wantage, England Royal Horse Artillery European theatre of operation.

    Many thanks for any pointers

Tx Alan & Elaine for a quick response Well we are carrying on as you suggest but no luck yet. It seems an odd one because Harold went to reunions and the family story is quite detailed. But hopefully we will find something.

Of course if anyone has any other thoughts ;D
