  • 'orrible 'andwriting.

    I would like some help in deciphering the names of 2 Witnesses please.
    The first is probably "Henry Hatton Martin"...........the bride is a Martin.
    The second is perhaps a Mary or May but the surname more difficult.....2 Witnesses.jpg

      Looks like May Emmet to me.

      Do admire you for tackling marriages, I stick to burials, where there's only the cleric's handwriting to decipher, and then at least you get a chance to get acclimatised to it!

                    The loop looks like it's on the end of the last letter of the signature above as a flourish - the signature looks like he's trying to be 'important'.

                    Not sure it's Henry looks like 'cky' at the end of the first name.
