  • Looking for George's birth

I can't find the birth of George Asher. He died Leicester St Margaret's 18 Oct 1825....on that entry (he's listed as George Ashur) it states he was born 1760 & he married Jane Hawkes Leicester St Margaret's 5 Nov 1787.

If anyone could spot his birth, I'd be very grateful (poss, apart from Leics would be Lincs, but I can't find him)

    Thanks

Sorry...someone has transcribed it as Hawkes. Julie (Darksecretz) was kind enough to tip me off about Breedon on the Hill, Leics....a lot of Ashers there, but I can't find this one. He could possibly have been the first of his family who came over as a Jewish immigrant (sigh)

Apart from Leics itself, Lincs & Northants would be the best bets (a lot of people moved to Leics from those counties), but I can't find him on Ancestry. The only ones I can find as possibilities were born in Dorset & Wilts & I've got the marriage of the one in Wilts in Wilts. Dorset wouldn't be impossible, but highly unlikely.
