I can look it up for you Cath, but you may not know that public trees on Ancestry are duplicated on another website called Mundia - www.mundia.com - FREE to join/view/make contact.

Here is a link to the same tree on Mundia.
Ancestry® helps you understand your genealogy. A family tree takes you back generations—the world's largest collection of online family history records makes it easy to trace your lineage.

The tree has 58,000+ people in it. Best I not comment further! ;)

Many thanks. I can find no trace of her after 1871 when she is a widow (married name Low) and visiting her sister in Birkenhead.

Can you give the details of the 1871 census - can't see her at the moment.

Thanks Cath, found it now. Age has been mistranscribed which was probably what was confusing me!

She is shown there with a daughter Ellen, aged 3 born England. Do you know where exactly Ellen was born?

The ancestry tree also shows another daughter -

                    Grizel Blackie LOW
Birth 10 MAY 1862 in Dumfries, Scotland

                    - do you know what happened to her?

All I can find is Helen Low, Birkenhead 1867. Another child Mary Strong Low - Birkenhead 1866 to 1867 and Grizelle Blackie Low, Dumfries 1862 who seems to have dropped off the earth. Mary herself was born and married in Dumfries but widowed in Birkenhead.

Ignore the last bit, I've just seen your last post. Records must have been added to SP since I last looked. I've been working on this for years!

Thanks Elaine. Don't you just hate it when people just disappear? !! I've got too many close ones to mention. Also a grandmother who appeared from nowhere.
