I'm looking for a death around about 1857 for an Isabella Liddiard ,have found a Liddiard female unnamed death in 1857 but seems odd her name wouldn't be given ??
Why were most unnamed so ?
Well, you read in the news, even now, of unidentified bodies being found - male or female. If there isn't anyone who recognises the body and no accompanying ID then there's not much that the authorities can do other than list them as "fe/male unnamed".

Do you mean her christian name is missing, Val? Perhaps she was only known to the informant as Mrs Liddiard. Times were much more formal then.
Two of my great-uncles apparently didn't know their father's first name even though he didn't die till they were adults - on their marriage certs one called him Joseph, the other called him John, in fact he was James!
In 1857 age at death was not recorded on the index (though it would be on the register). I think the most likely explanation is that the death you have found is of a very young baby who had not been named.
There is a matching birth in Q4 1857 for a Female Liddiard.
The surname Liddiard is interchangeable with Lidyard and Lydiard, even in the same family. And unfortunately the initial L can sometimes be indexed as S, even in the GRO index, as I have found.

I have an example in OH's tree of S being transcribed as L. So that interchangeability of transcription is very possible. And there are probably others.

Is this the Isabella Burtonshaw who married George Liddiard in Bethnal Green 1854? If so George was with their daughter, also Isabella, in Whitechapel in1861 RG09 piece 270 folio 22 page 10 and described as married not widowed. Surname in 1861 spelled Lidiard.

Reason: spelling
yes Judith I had that ,I cannot find Isabella after the marriage , they had another daughter Catherine in 1854 Whitechapel here she is in 1871 but cannot find her in 1861 so maybe she is with her mother somewhere? I also cannot work out the relationship between her and William Rivers

William rivers marriage :
NAME: William George Rivers
SPOUSE: Maria Ann Liddard
FATHER: William George Rivers
BIRTH: abt 1848
MARRIAGE: 25 Dec 1870 - Stepney St Philip
Thanks for those Kat , still not sure about them as my George Liddiard was a Labourer . Cannot see how Catherine was his Sister in law ?
Will have to look into them further.
I'm not sure either. But if William Rivers married Maria Ann Liddard then Catherine b 1853 would be Maria Ann's sister b 1847 - sister in law to William.
If George is not the right father at that marriage then I don't think the Catherine on 1871 census you have is correct either.
I think the Catherine you have found in 1871 is the one baptised 11 June 1854, Goodman's Fields St Mark, parents George and Maria, whereas the one who was daughter of George and Isabella was baptised 31 Dec 1855 in Whitechapel St Mary.
Thanks Kat its all very odd as my Catherine Liddiard is the only one born abt that time this is her bap, gonna leave her for now ,maybe come back to it in a couple of days thanks
