  • Check your Ancestry messages

There is something bad going on at Ancestry I got a message on my Tree yesterday and when I went to answer it had a few messages not passed on from them ,one was in November ? so not good.
I also had a lot of Hints now I only have half what was showing before .

Just checked my messages and nothing there I haven't already seen.

Can't comment on hints as I ignore them anyway; they are either way off the mark, or are for people I already have in my tree, so I don't see the point in them.

I think Ancestry has changed its policy on notification of messages. I had some recently that were not emailed to me

I also found messages recently not e mailed to me so I am not sure what is going on there! I also find their hints a huge joke, as they are already in my tree or way off beam, a bit like the hot matches in GR used to be!!

            If I get a message from a UK-based Ancestry subscriber, I get an email alert. If I get a message from a non-UK-based Ancestry subscriber, I don't.

I asked Ancestry about it and they say there's nothing wrong their end, it's Google's fault for blocking some of their messages. Yeah, right!

I've only got Ancestry UK, but I used to get email notifications for all personal messages no matter where in the world the messenger was based, but then I stopped getting them for those that didn't originate in the UK. I've asked Ancestry about it twice now and both times they've said it's not their fault, it must be Google (my email provider) who is blocking "some" messages. I get emails from other peeps who are not-UK based, so it doesn't make any sense to me that Google would block those non-UK ones that come via Ancestry.

I have worldwide and didn't get a notification message when a relative in America had left a message for me, luckily it was only a week or so since he left the message. He was a good contact too so if I'd not gone looking I'd have missed out.
