  • Geographical question Haily Scotland

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help re the location of Haily in Scotland.

I have a newspaper clipping indicating an ancestor was from there, but googling hasn't helped much.

Does anyone have any knowledge of Scotland please. or is it a misprint.

    Many thanks

    Hi,
Can't say I have heard the name and I have lived my whole life in Scotland.
Can you send me the clipping or give more about it and perhaps the context would help.

Thank you Herky, Here is a copy of the clipping, I hope it works,

      PS this was in 1818

The Dr William Wilson died in 1798, before the birth of his daughter, aged 24.

I have just realised I do know a Haily in Scotland - not sure of the spelling.
Just east of Largs, Ayrshire on the A 760 there is a hill called the Haylie Brae - it is just a steep part of the road though so I it doesn't
seem right but may be a clue. You will find it on google maps.
I have to go to work today but will have another look, when I can.

Many thanks I will have a browse around.

PS I have found another reference to it, via a Scotlands places transcription, for William Wilson (? senior) paying his horse taxes in 1789.
