  • Looking for death of Great Grandmother Jane Vincent

Hi Everyone, I am struggling to find this death.
My Great Grandmother Jane Vincent (born Jane Jameson on 10th October 1862)
She married George Frederick Vincent on 3rd March 1884.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Kind regards John

Which census do you have her up to John and where was she living. Do you know where/when your great grandfather died?
Chrissie passed away in January 2020.

The marriage was in Stepney reg dist - just to give some ideas about parts of the country.

        Jay
        Janet in Yorkshire

I think they were in Stepney in 1891 census (Jane's year of birth given as 1864)

          Janet in Yorkshire

Thanks For the input so far everyone.
            My Great Granddad died 3/7/1929.
Chrissie, I did see that death entry and it is a possibility I suppose.
In the 1891 census I have them in Five Bell Alley, Limehouse.
            Thanks again John

Can't find them in 1901 but note that on George Frederick Jnr's Army Record (Pension) his next of kin in 1902 is given as George Frederick and Jane but they are living at different addresses in Limehouse.

George at Copenhagen Place and Jane at Park Street.

I guess it's one of those that where we 'take a chance' on the certificate'.

you could contact the local office and ask them/explain your predicament and ask if she was the wife of George Frederick or not

That's a good call but they must be the most un-helpful office in the country. :(
But may have different staff now so would be worth a visit.
                      Thanks John

Not sure off hand what details you need to provide for a death cert but if you were able to put in occupation you could say 'wife of George Frederick' as that is what would be shown for a married woman who died. If the one you requested does not have that on the death record GRO will not issue a cert and will give a full refund.
