    I find the Irish records very hard to locate I am trying to find the birth of a Patrick Keegan born abt 1850 County Westmeath Ireland
    Parents Michael and Mary (nee Smith) Keegan
    Any suggestions please

    Were they RC or not?

    I take it you have checked familysearch.org? Sometimes Irish births are just not 'findable' :(

        Civil Registration for Irish births did not start until 1864 so you are looking for parish records and religious denomination is crucial in the search.

          Margaret tell me something on the marriage it says Michael Keegan status Married and the bride says Mary Smyth status Spinster ? why does it say he is married ?
