When some one is adopted, in the 1970's in the UK, is there any reference made to the Adoption on their 'Actual' Birth Certificate?

Yes - the original register entry (and any certificates you obtain from it) will have a note "adopted" written on it by the Superintendent Registrar.
However it will not give the "new " adopted name of the child.Last edited by AntonyM; 29-10-13, 09:46.Retired professional researcher, and ex- deputy registrar, now based in Worcestershire.
