William Goodman, s/o William and Jemima, was baptised on 4 Aug 1807 at Stratton St Margarets (Swindon), Wilts.
I next find him on the 1841 census with wife Clarissa/Clara and four children in Hampstead Norris, Berks:
haven't pinned him down in 1851, but in 1861 and 1871 he's in Beedon with Clara and children
It would appear from these census records that William and Clarissa/Clara's eldest child, Clara, was b. abt 1836-7 in Ilsley, Berks.
William's wife, Clarissa/Clara, according to census records comes from Stepney and was b. ~1804. (Dies 1874).
I haven't been able to find a marriage for the couple, or any info on Clarissa/Clara's birth. The eldest son (as far as I know he was the eldest) carries the middle name of Lifford - as do future generations - so I was wondering if that was Clarissa/Clara's maiden name, but I'm not finding anything.
Can anyone help, please?
Thanks

PS : Have to go out now, but will be back later - so am not ignoring you!
