Hi Guys,
I wonder if you can kindly help again with another Williams headache.
John Williams married Eliza Drewett (my Gt Gt Grandmother born c1866 Edington, Wiltshire) in Staines in October 1892 ( I have the mc - him age 30 her age 26), Grooms father John Williams (Deceased), Bride's father Rueben Drewett, this is all fine apart from John Williams, none of my mum's family have any idea about him he died in Newport in 1916 and was in a wheelchair from an accident painting a house where he damaged his back( which is in a family photo) my mum bless her was born in 1941 long after her Gt Grandfather died and her mum(my nana) was only 3 when John Williams died. Apparently he was from Liverpool, but I think I have spotted him and Eliza and her illegitimate daughter Kate on the 1891 census in Staines Workhouse as a vagrant and in the column asking what language do you speak his entry says both (presuming English and Welsh). So this leads me to believe he was in fact Welsh, I'm not sure but I would doubt most English folk would choose to learn to speak Welsh?, whereas myself and the rest of the Welsh population have no choice living in Wales but to learn to speak Welsh. So any idea's about how I can trace this mysterious John Williams and his family?
Any advice or help would be much appreciated as always.
Kind regards
Sarah
