  • Probate calendar question

I have found an entry for Ada Beatrice Wheway in 1944 who dies in Sussex and at the bottom it says

Resealed: Trinidad British West Indies 3 Feb 1945

Can anyone explain what it means, as I have found no connection with Trinidad??

    Thanks for any help

I googled "Probate reseal" and came up with a number of solicitors dealing with resealing of grants of probate - it seems to be done when an English will involves property held overseas and is necessary so that the executor can gain access to the assets held in the other country.

Thanks Judith, I tried googling but didn't get that info so appreciate the help, sounds like I better order the will to see what she owned then!

Something similar (sealing) applies to a Scottish will proved in England. Though it may only apply to large estates. My m-i-l had a Scottish will and died in England a few years ago. My wife was the sole executor and there were only a handful of beneficiaries.
