Isn't it referring to Elizabeth's dau, Val? Her dau being Elizabeth Church wife of Thos?? Church, the description is of Thos Church who it appears has deserted Elizabeth therefore he's 'wanted' by the parish, to maintain his wife and perhaps children if Elizabeth Church had children?
At least that's what I make of it!Last edited by Guest; 23-08-13, 02:04.

Was Elizabeth Ogborn married twice? Or may be had Elizabeth before marriage. The 'London, England, Selected Poor Law Removal and Settlement Records, 1828-1930' say Elizabeth (dau) married Thos Church 15th Dec 1844 Cripplegate. I cannot find a marriage which matches but there is this.....................
15th Dec 1845 Cripplegate: Thomas Church/Elizabeth Ann Cullum. Elizabeth Ann's father was entered as James Cullum, so Elizabeth Ogborn probably was married before. http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/16...l=ReturnRecord
Also the Poor Law Records etc......... state Thomas Church's father was William Cobley which is the name Thomas Church gives as his father on marriage cert. Do you know why his father had a different surname?Last edited by Guest; 23-08-13, 03:43.

Here's Thomas Church's baptism, it appears to have Cobley (father's surname on his M.C) written over or crossed out, also William as father's name is crossed through!!!!

I did see that last night, Val, but wondered if it was a different Elizabeth as the age suggests she was born circa 1821, your Elizabeth was born circa 1827/28. I then tried to find them, any of them in 1871 but the trail seemed to run dry, mind you I was cream crackered as it was late. I'll take another look.
Sleep well. x.

Still haven't found them in 1871, but may be found some of them (kids) in later census returns. We really could do with finding the 1871 to establish the Elizabeth in 1861 birth, as if it's the same year/age as 1861 then I doubt she's yours.
P.s. I haven't looked yet for a death for Thomas Church, possibly he died between 1861 and 1871 census. In which case the children could be enumerated in the name of a possible chap Elizabeth either married or lived with! Difficult as we can't even ascertain (yet) if the children's mother is 'your' Elizabeth or not. Another thought: William aged 14 on 1861 census could be Thomas' son born to 'your' Elizabeth Cullum and the other two children another Elizabeth's!!! Ooh, the intrigue!
Away to bed, we'll see what tomorrow reveals.Last edited by Guest; 24-08-13, 02:44.
