Possible for 1871 - looks as if James' age has been mistranscribed.

          Marriage for parents - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XYQS-V3T

There are a couple of possibles for James Barton in 1861, but I think you will need his MC to see who the parents are - unfortunately not on the FamilySearch transcription!

Thankyou Elaine. Now I know its not my James. I purchased the marriage certificate from Scotlandspeople. This James BARTON was the son of Henry BARTON & Isabella CUNNINGHAM and parents of Mary Ann MCARTHUR were John McARTHUR & Jane (cant read maiden surname). Just entering this information to help anyone related to this family,if they google search.

Still looking for my James BARTON born c 1842 Ireland, son of Robert (occ Gardener) & Jane, nee WILSON.Who lived in 1851 at Paisley High Church, Renfrewshire & in 1861 lived Glasgow Barony, Lanarkshire (mistranscribed as BURTON). Both parents died in 1864.James was still alive in 1877 when he was informant on death of brother Thomas.

Kerri, are you wanting to come forwards with James Barton, or go back with his parents Robert & Jane ... or both!

Forward with James- not backwards into Robert & Jane's lineage (Irish) I have been trying to follow the children.

                  Have you seen this possibility

1871 Central Barony, Lanarkshire Piece 644 Foloi 121 Page 10
James Barton 1842 Patient, occ Sawyer born England

Unfortunately it doesn't list where he is eg hospital, workhouse

Sorry forgot to add it says he is married
