Hi I first came across this site a couple of years ago and asked for help with my G.Grandfather Alfred Austin born about 1840 in possibly Charing, Kent.
I have still not found any parents for him, all I can find is a possible mother for him in the 1851 census. On this he is 12 years old, and his parents are stated as Thomas Crowhurst aged 27 and Mary Crowhurst aged 27. In the 1841 census he is named as Alfred Crowhurst. Both of these are in Rochester, Kent. the name of the Road does ring a bell as my mother had spoken of it so I think this could be the right one but not sure. Has anyone any ideas on this and where I could perhaps try now. Thanking you, Jazz
