In the section where born, next to france what does that mean ( Nat ? subject)

Also in the last section deaf,dumb etc what is that word written next to some people
Is it Lor? Four ? or something else and what does it mean?France.jpg

Nat=Nationality British Subject= means they were born British Subjects no matter where in the world they were born.....Edna
