  • Census query on birth place and where are they all after 1871?

    1871 census https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VBZ5-648
    1861 census https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M7CJ-BPF

I believe these are the same person, showing a different place of birth on each census. I can't find the family before or after this on any census, or a birth registration for Elizabeth to confirm either/or.

I assumed by the 1881 she is married, but the only likely one is after the 1881 census 4Q 1881 Hartlepool 10a 213 to either Wm BENSON or Fred BILLER

Thank you........ I have been looking for both 1881 and birth reg and found nothing and was starting to think they may have migrated elsewhere

Elaine has given you the Family search link above (not ancestry) She is not with her parents

Its a very unusual name - there are some family trees on ancestry with that name, mostly in the states though. Why dont you take a fortnights free trial on ancestry?

No it is not on freebmd, well not that I found anyway. I assumed she was married after 1871 and before 1881 as I couldn't find a death or her. Will do some research on 'Atkinson' and see.

I don't know Co Durham all that well anyway and with boundary changes in the past I have found it could mean Yorkshire or Northumberland depending on where in the county. Think I need to get out my A-Z and do some geography Eg is Minsteracres the same place as Towlaw

There is coincidentally an Elizabeth Japps born Gateshead, so probably her?

Have you checked census for the other two possible husbands you found?

Found this https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/WJ6C-9ZM but don't know if it is likely her younger sister or not

                                Household for that census is:
                                George W Apps 41
                                Jane A Apps 39
                                Hannah Apps 12
                                Fanny E Apps 11
                                Alice Apps 2

                                John Wilkinson 34

.. so looks like a different family.

There is a marriage on freeBMD which includes Richard Gibbon and Ada Jarps
                                      Jan-Feb-Mar 1889
                                      Registration District: Hartlepool

Looking at the image, Hannah Dopps looks like Hannah Japps.
