  • I need to find a connection!

I have posted on several forums re this query,( so many i have lost count of which ones!!!) but for some reason or another, have not had any suggestions, othr than well meaning people giving me info i already know and have preambled with. ( my thanks to them for their input)

So to keep things to a minimum this is my problem

    1) i have traced my line back to a John Vale b 1792 in Buttsbury Essex
    2) My line traces back to his second marriage in 1828
    3) from info gleaned from censuses in 1871 and 1881 i have reason to believe (but no proof) that a John Vale b 1817 in either Stifford or Stanford-le-Hope is his son from a first marriage
    4) as records commenced in 1837 i need to find
    a) the first marriage details
    b) John Vales (1817) birth details

A visit to the Essex RO drew a blank and the Mormon site details of the marriages of John Vales in that timescale ( 1810-1818) has also been discounted. Would appreciate any help/pointers on where to go next to prove/disprove the link

    Thanks for reading

    Hi
Did you look through the Boyd's marriage index at the record office? If not I think Britishorigins has these records.
Jack Baxter's marriage index covers parishes & years not covered by Boyds.

Peter Nutt's baptism index might help you find John Vale's birth.

    Moggie

As you have been to the Essex Records Office I am sure you already know about SEAX but just in case you don't here is the link.

There are these two on the Vicar General Licenses
John Vale to Mary Woodward 1807
John Veale to Elizabeth Tuerena 1809 and
John Vale to Jane Washington 1810 at Navestock - Boyd's Marriage index

        and then

Vaile to Singleton 1812 Vicar General
Veal to How 1811 Vicar General
Veal to Pryer 1808 Vicar General

John Vale to Jane Washington 1810 at Navestock - Boyd's Marriage index

That one looks promising Margaret, not too far from Buttsbury.

That's what I was thinking - I used to work in Brentwood and Basildon so have a rough idea of the names around that area.

plus the navestock record could be the one you'd need and say he was from the parish you need to tie it in.
