Could it be Extons Road (which appears in the 1911 census)
Compare the 'x' with the 'x' in Sixth, just above.

I think it is Extons as well. Can you check the electoral register for 1949 (and 1948 just in case they moved before October)?

I don't think Norfolk electoral registers are online (but I could be wrong). If that is the case you would need to go to the record office yourself, or see if someone is going there who could look it up for you.

I have found Extons Road on the 1881 census, but unfortunately there aren't any house numbers. Most of the houses are on the few pages either side of this one:-

                      http://search.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/...+Lynn.ALL.7.35

But there are some odd houses scattered about on other pages, again no numbers.

Google street view shows 36 very clearly, with a large house number on the wall. It is part of Haylett Terrace and to me looks to be mid-1800s. How old were you expecting it to be?

The house was there in 1883; see the second paragraph on this page:-

it doesnt look much older than my house is and mine was only built in 1974, which is why i didnt think it could be the right 1, but then a friend of mine lives in a house built in the 1930s and again that doesnt look any older/much different. lol! goes to show what i know about houses.

There appear to be 40 houses in the 1911 Census (including a workhouse).

It is possible that the birthplace was occupied by a relative, even 38 years before.

someone on the kings lynn forum had a half sister die at 36 extons road, kings lynn in 1937, when it was linked to st james workhouse (39 extons road) (which in turn became st james hsopital until 1985), so i think that the house is part of the hospital, i'm just not sure in what capacity or how i would out this information.

thank you, i've saved the link as trying to piece together all information i can on the address at the moment. to try and make sense of it - from what i can gather it was linked to st james workhouse whcih became st james hospital (not sure when) and then later a house (again not sure when). i have found births and deaths at the address from the 1930's right through to my mums birth in 1949, so i am working along lines that it was a hospital building not residential house during this time. also replied to your message tilly mint, thanks
