A new-found FTF contact has set me on the road of sorting out David Easton. I have his beginning and end but there's a bit missing in the middle.
Born to Rev. Matthew George Easton and Ann Colts Dobbie 15 Jul 1850 and baptised at Girvan Ayrshire 29 Jul 1850 (from Familysearch).
With the family in 1851 (Girvan), 1861 (Girvan) and 1871 (Loudon/Darvel). By 1871 he is a merchant aged 20.
He then marries Isabella McBride on 8 Dec 1903 in Calcutta, India (from FIBIS).
They return from Bombay to Liverpool on the Olympia, arriving on 8 May 1919 (UK Incoming Shipping from Ancestry).
And 2 weeks later on 24 May 1919 he dies in Pollokshields, Glasgow (from Scottish Wills on ScotlandsPeople). The will index gives 2 former addresses for him in Calcutta.
Isabella dies in 1951 in Prestwick, Ayrshire (Scottish Wills on ScotlandsPeople).
If I've got the right family for Isabella, she's still living with her parents in Glasgow in 1901.
So any idea what happened to David between 1871 and 1903, and when did he and Isabella sail to India?
I know that the father Matthew George was a well-loved minister, and the church in Darvel was renamed after him after his death.
