I can go back as far as 1704 when Griffith/Griffin Dobson was born Bolton 17.11 1704/bapt.19.11.1704
@ St Peters Parish Church,Bolton le Moor.
This line is my husbands & the above is his 5xGt Grandfather.

We did a search in the Bolton Archives & found the following:

The PRecords stated that Griffith/Griffin was born to Alice Dobson with the probable father being Thomas Lever.
Griffith married at least 3 times.

1.Marriage was to Ellen Greenhaulgh 6th Dec 1724 & at the time Griffith/Griffin was named as Griffin Dobson Lever.M007152 1661-1750 = 2children

2.Marriage was to Ann Whittle 1st Feb 1738 they had a son John b.1738/9as per ecclesiastical calendar.
= 1 child
This is where my husbands line is from.

3.Marriage to Mary Clark 25.8.1740 = 3 children

I would like to get further back if possible with Alice Dobsons family.Any information appreciated as I can no longer visit the UK to search.

This info needs correcting & I sincerely apologise for the error I made.

Looking back at my notes I find a correction to my info.

Griffith Dobson was b. circa 1720 Bolton le Moor & was the son of Griffin Dobson b.1704 & Ellen Greenhalgh.
Griffith married Ann Whittle in 1738,then Mary Clark in 1740.

Griffin Dobson his father was the one whose mother was Alice Dobson & possible father Thomas Lever.

Sincere apologies.

Harwood is in the Bolton Le Moors area, but GREAT Harwood is the other side of Blackburn, nearly 20 miles away.

Hi Edna,

Thank you for this.It appears that from the records that we viewed in the archives in Bolton that Griffy/Griphy had a poss marriage to Ann Whittle 1738.We found the actual marriage to Mary Clark 25.8.1740.However,there was no proof of a marriage to Margaret Man who was named as the mother of a daughter Elizabeth who was christened in 1732.
Quite a lad our Griffy from what it appears.
Griffy also had a sibling name of Robert who was b.1725 & died in 1728.

My real search now is for Alice Dobson mother of Griffin Dobson b.17.11.1704 with father named Thomas Lever.
