Hi

i am looking for the birth of my great grandfather Arthur Riley, I'm not 100 % sure that this is where he was born as some census say Nottingham and others say county bridgeford. He was born in 1882.

his parents are William and Susan north born in hulland Derbyshire.

hope this helps

regards

sue

hi Sue,

I think that County Bridgford would now be classed as 'west bridgford' which is just outside the city centre, in either case it would still be classed as Nottingham.

his birth could be a little tricky, there are several registrations for 1882

I can see 4 possible ones for 1882

Name: Arthur Riley
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1882
Registration district: Bingham

you will need to order the certificate to get the right one, though you can apply for each in turn and specify that you only want the one that has the mothers maiden name of HILL

Hi Elaine,

thanks for that. Yes his father was a gamekeeper and they did go to mobberley. Do you know if you can obtain baptism certificates from St. Peter's?

You would have to contact the church but you could send an email to the records office, don't know how much they charge. Maybe if you request a look up
