  • Record Office: Pioneer Histories for RM of Wood River, Saskatchewan, Canada

I have two large hardcover volumes published by the Wood River Historical Society. They are Memories of the Wood River District 1940-2000, published in 2001; and Golden Memories of the Wood River District, published in 1980.

The Wood River Rural Municipality #74 lies in South Central Saskatchewan, and encompasses the small towns of Lafleche, Melaval and Woodrow. There are far too many names to list here, but if anyone is researching that part of Saskatchewan these books are gold! If anyone would like a look up, PM me and I'd be happy to help.

Also, this type of local history books were apparently fairly common in the various districts so if your research subject is from another area, similar books may very well exist and are definitely worth tracking down. They include photos, local history, and of course family histories, dates, and stories supplied by the local residents.
