  • South African Research

Hi all, iv just found out today that i need to start reasearch in south africa.

Iv been googleing for the last few hr's and cant find anything helpfull at all.

Ill need to look for birth and marriage records, iv got a photo of a passage ticket on the bennala to australia, id also like to look up a death notice that was trascribed from the george knysna herald in 1920.

Dose anyone have any websites i can use, or tips and tricks to searching in south africa.

    Thanks in advance.

SA research is tricky - most links are in our Reference Library on the South Africa page: http://www.familytreeforum.com/conte...1-South-Africa.

If you find any that we haven't collected up, please let us know!!!

On the Lost Cousins website you will see under the Beginners Guide heading: "Tracing your South African ancestors - a beginner's guide at the Ancestry24 site"

      - which takes you through to this link on the ancestry24 website:
Cloudbet Crypto Casino welcomes anyone looking for a state-of-the-art gambling portal with free access to a large catalog of top slots & bonuses

Ancestry24 is apparently due to close at the end of this month so it is recommended you download this while it's still available.
I downloaded it last week to check it against the content on our reference library page, but haven't got round to doing it yet! It's on my "to do" list!

It looks as though what was the main SA reference site (GenealogyWorld) is defunct too ..... I have just removed it from the listing in case anyone thought they were going potty!!

we did some S.A research in Cape Town when we visited there, and got some info. Not easy though, each province keeps their own records, so if you don't know where an event took place, it's like a needle in a haystack.

Familysearch has been working on SA records - most are not yet indexed but there are projects making that happen.
