    A summary ~

    Pte ANTHONY PALMER V.C.

    Born 10th March 1819
    Died 12th December 1892

    Enlisted in the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards on 14th March 1838. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his action at Inkerman, Crimea. ..... on 5th November 1854 ...

    Saved Major Sir Charles Russell’s life . .

    Decorated with the V.C. by Her Majesty Queen Victoria on 26th June 1857
    ... also Crimea Medal with four clasps and the Bentinck Medal

    ... became head constable of The Millwall Dock Co.

    Died in Crumpsall Hospital Manchester (and buried in Heywood Cemetery)

    I have Palmer from Sherston Magna Wilts 1797 and Bristol Glos, can we find his place of birth, I havenot fully researched the Palmer Family branches just direct lines and dont have an Anthony in those.

      Born Sommerford Cheshire, wife name Susannah Palmer from Spaxton Somerset, he was a chelsea Pensioner from Familysearch. 1881 census he was in Poplar Middx as Cheif Constable Docks.
