I have an administration bond from 1762,the executor had to pay the sum of £275.This seems a hell of a lot to pay at the time. Also was this £275 returned once the will was proved.
Thanks in advance.
The North East Inheritance Project offers a catalogue of the probate records of people who lived in the North-east of England between the 16th and 19th centuries
Although they write specifically about Durham I am preety sure it was the same everywhere.
