If there is anyone visiting the archives, has a bit of time and doesn't mind would they be able to see if there is a baptism for an Elizabeth Purdy please? I will post full details if there is anyone that can help.

Many thanks
Ewen

Thanks for the reply Elaine. I have contacted relevant archives in London to see what records they hold but unfortunately it seems the records that I am searching for are not there.

For the record though I am looking for a baptism of Elizabeth Purdy d/o George and Mary possibly from 1821.

Many thanks
Ewen

From familysearch's catalog, it appears there are C/England records covering your time period:
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/show?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fcatalog-search-api%3A8080%2Fwww-catalogapi-webservice%2Fitem%2F753767
and possibly dissenting churches, too:
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/results#count=20&query=%2Bplace%3A%22England,%20Middlesex,%20Hammer smith%22&subjectsOpen=504195-50

From the first, it looks like the records are still held at the H & F archives: - don't you hate when someone tells you something you already know...sorry.
http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Leisure_and_Culture/Libraries/Archives/23436_Records_of_Church_of_England_Parishes.asp

BUT - If you can't make it in person, you could borrow the FS film to your nearest Family History Centre for a small fee.

Did you realize that FamilySearch has indexed the time period you are looking for? Using archersoftware, you can see what is covered:
http://www.archersoftware.co.uk/igi/fs-mdx.htm#H

and selecting the period covering 1821, and entering "Purdy" in the name
https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Apurdy~%20%2Bbatch_number%3AC010 478

So, there's only one child with surname "Purdy" in that batch, she is named Lydia, but other elements fit. Could she be the one you wanted?

Sorry PhotoFamily I have just noticed your reply. Yes Lydia is one of the Purdy clan. I have looked on familysearch and Elizabeth doesn't appear there, I think she may be on records that aren't online as yet..
