I have William Taylor born c1857 Yealmpton,Devon on the 1881 census with his wife Elizabeth born c1858 St Just,Cornwall. On the next 2 census' she is head of the family as a widow, (with my relly Blanche born 1890 Newton Ferrers,Devon) but I can't find a death for William. Her oldest child Charles was born around 1881, I found a marriage ib 1880 but it didn't give Elizabeth's name. Can anyone find her maiden name please? I would be very grateful.

I agree with Val that this is a contender

The registration district for Newton Ferrers is Plympton. On the 1891 census Elizabeth has what looks like a middle initial J.

There is a marriage in Q/E Dec 1880 Plympton
              William PEPPRELL
              William Henry TAYLOR
              Ann WILLCOCKS
              Elizabeth Jane WILLIAMS

If that's the right marriage, what do you think of this death?

Q/E March 1891 Plympton Henry TAYLOR aged 34.

Its the right age, right time frame and he may have been known by his middle name. Or am I clutching at straws?

I've just found Elizabeth on the 1901 and the 1911 census. Can't find a death for her as yet. Or a second marriage. I'll take a look at the death you mention.

It may not be my chap as there was a Henry Taylor born 1857 in Yealmpton too so could be a cousin to mine.
