Trying to find a census entry before 1871 on James Samuel Clarke/Samuel James Clark.
So far I found this https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NPJY-RQH which suggests he was born in the city of Gloucester proper in 1841, although his marriage cert (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NJN6-DPS) says he was born in 1843. I know that people often didn't know their ages however!
I know he married Matilda Harman and from his marriage certificate, it tells me his father's name was John. The birth info says his mother was called Fanny, but I can't find anything matching this at all until 1871 when he is already married to Matilda.
1871 Census: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...cpidz0q252cpid
1881 Census: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...26pgplz0q3dpid
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
