  • Cross family, Bury, Lancs

Any information about John Cross (b1829 Bury), wife Sarah (b1831 Isle of Man) and their children very much appreciated.
John was a Civil & Mining Engineer.
In 1881 they lived at Heaton Norris, Lancs.

    Thanks

Just found London Gazette article - John died 15/4/1901, probate granted to sons Wm. and Thos.

Hi Elaine + thanks for obituary info.

I managed to fill in a few gaps this morning, but would appreciate census info 1901 onwards for Wm. Haslam Cross (b1863) Bury, his brother Thomas Oliver Cross (b1868 Bury) and Ada Alice Cross (b1875 Heaton Norris, Lancs).

Also trying to find the marriage of John Cross to Elizabeth Jane Reston Duckworth c 1860.

        Thanks

Thanks Alan for the ref, but unable to access image as Ancestry subs recently expired ... isn't John with the family in 1891?

Do you know anything else about these two - where they might have married - a census ref so we can see where Elizabeth was born etc.

Thanks very much Elaine .. 1901 and 1911 cenus info VERY useful - I was hoping Thomas would be living at Peel Hall in 1901 as that ties in well with my theory.

Now wondering if there is anyway we can deduce what he was doing between 1901 and 1911 ??? e.g. when he moved from Lancs to Cardiganshire ???
