  • Code letters on London, England, Electoral Registers

Any know what code letters use on the registers stand for, HO, R, O, etc and by side of names sometimes a J, also would all living at addy be shown. Did think it was just those of voting age but in 1926 one have found that seems not to be case and it really has given me a puzzle relating to my dad at time.

Thanks for that, just got to find if only those who can vote recorded, if thats right gives me a right puzzle, as couple of names shown would as far as know not be old enough unless they are couple of people not aware of.

        Hi Mike,

J means eligible to serve as juror
        R - residence qualification

        HO - gualified through husband
        BP business premises qualification

There are more abbreviations - they changed every so often.
