  • John Lennon, NOT the singer!

Sorry but I had to add that one :P

Anyway can someone possibly do me a huge favour and look at this 1881 Census at John Sr please? I managed to look at Edward Sr but I've ran out of credits now and I'd just like to know if John Sr was a brother to Edward Sr?

    Cheers :D

The 50yo John Lennon is listed as a Boarder. Give me a few mins and I'll look at who the rest of the household are as well.

Cecelia, b. Ireland is the wife of Edward.
Edward, 15, coal miner, b. Stevenston, Ayrshire, is the son of Edward and Cecelia.
Patrick, 10, scholar, b. Stevenston, Ayrshire, is the son of Edward and Cecelia.
Hugh, 7, scholar, b. Stevenson, Ayrshire, is the son of Edward and Cecelia.

John, 50, b. Ireland is a coal miner.

    Does this help at all?

The relationship just says "boarder", but brother seems logical.

I have seen one family who described his parents and siblings as "boarders" as they lived in the same household as his wife and children. Maybe the census told you to put boarder or lodger first if they paid to live in the same household.
