  • Another Phillips, this time Thomas.

I know I'm really annoying people here but it's gotta be done, it's bugging me far to much.

Thomas Phillips was born in 1841, Great Stainton, Durham to John Phillips and Susan(nah) Fairburn.
He had a sister in Sarah and 2 brothers in Robert and William.

I found Thomas in the 1881 Census aged 39 with a wife named Mary A. Phillips origonally from Scotland snd 3 daughters:
    Alice- 13, born in Stockton-On-Tees.
Emily A-11, born in London, Paddington. (odd)
Susannah F-3, born in South Stockton also known as Thornaby-On-Tees.
He's a Driller in a Shipyard (ran in the family) and lived at 22 Starkey Street (love the location)

What I'm puzzled about is the 1891 Census. There's only him and his wife in it and they are now located in Middlesbrough. Could they have just had the 3 Daughters who have married or could it be the wrong census? Considering his brother Robert had 10 children and his nephew George had 11-12 I'd have thought it might have ran in the family or something.

Plus I can't find him in any Census after that one.

    (3rd one down)

I am the girl from that town & I'm darn proud of it.

The older two girls could be married, living away or dead. The youngest could be living away or dead. Although large families were common they were not universal. AIUI every childbirth carries the risk of inhibiting further pregnancies.

So I haven't mixed her name up then? I thought it was odd that she had her Grandmother's misspelt surname as her middle one. I came across her birth but not her death. thanks for that Elaine.

So I've got Thomas death and burial site, Mum's birthday, 1905 and Durham Road Cemetery.
His Neice/Nephew have been found with him.

I know where there house is located in Middlesbrough- near McDonalds.
Susannah is close to there, actually looking at google maps it looks like it's my sisters street.
