  • Mary Ann Ryan help

    Hello again,

Can somebody please do me a lookup on the 1871 census for a Mary Ann Ryan born c1864 in Shoreditch London.
I'm hoping to find her parents names and her father's occupation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Danny

She married Edward Gidney in Shoreditch 1882. All I know to be honest.

You may have to buy the marriage cert which will give you what you want. There are 3 possibles in London (but it could be none of these)
James b1839 no occupation and Mary A b1843
Thomas b1835 Tailor and Jane b1841
And one Mary Ann who is living with her Aunt Mary from Ireland
        People: Canton, Wiseman, Colthup, Scrace
        Places: Pembrokeshire, Kent.

can't see anything on ancestry, maybe it was a register office wedding?

That shouldn't make any difference - Ancestry's BMDs are based on GRO records.

ancestry has london parish records, of which shoreditch is featured. so because the marriage hasn't surfaced, i would think either the church is not online yet, it was a register office wedding, or most likely lol ancestry has mangled it!

Or maybe with a name like Ryan the birth and the marriage took place somewhere in Ireland!! No sign of her on one 1871 census with the given place and dates. Too many to contemplate on Ancestry, I gave up after couting to 70 all over the country with at least 30 in the London area! Hundreds of Ryans in Tipperary!!

If you know the date of when she married, where she married and who she married then surely purchasing that marriage certificate is the way to go because that will give her father's name which will then help you to locate the census record.
