I assume you have the likely marriage for the parents Mike? September 1878 Birmingham - Charles Henry Fenemore to a possible Lucy Clarke.

He appears to die as Charles Henry too - March 1908 aged 52 in Aston ref 6d 204.

Are you sure that you have the right birth for Rose?

It is just possible that Samuel Lovatt died very soon after the marriage and Rose remarried Samuel Shenton. More likely, IMHO, is that both Samuels are the same man and for some reason the names are different on his marriage and the census. Maybe one of them is simply wrong or maybe he changed his name. There is a Samuel Lovatt in 1901 married to Hannah who died in 1911. If this is by any chance the same Samuel it might explain why he thought he should change his name as he could not have legally married Rose.

I have the Fenemore details and was quite happy till I found the marriage on Familysearch.
I have Samuel Shenton at 81 Wright St until 1935 then I can't find his death. The son John Shenton dies in 1985 in Birmingham.

Mike have you found the marriage for Samuel Lovatt to Hannah? could you compare the signatures/occupations etc.. does the birth certificate of Lucy b. 1904 help at all?

it does sound like a case of bigamy to me, I know that there are 'some' Warwickshire marriages online, let me get dressed and I'll have a look.
